I want to wish you all a very happy, healthy 2018. In the face of the turbulence that 2017 brought us, this year is destined to be positive.
As every New Year begins, it is a time that brings us innovative beginnings, fresh starts and the acceptance of self-directed change.
When looking back at 2017 it will be remembered as the year that shook the way consumers shopped, but it was not our first invitation to this distracting dance. We all remember the 1980’s and the impact that the fax machine had on us, punctuated by the impending doom that came with the opening of big box stores nationally. If you’re reading this; congratulations you survived those disruptors too!
2018 will continue to see consolidation of malls and mass market retailers, but the story is not doom and gloom for local and agile businesses. This year is promising for us. As we continue to make adjustments to our businesses that are needed to align with the traits and demands of our evolving client base we all will prosper.
I ask that you usher in 2018 with an open mind that utilizes the power of a blank slate written upon with new thinking, blended with the value of your wisdom and well-earned experience.
My final thought for you as we begin this new chapter in our lives.
It is not too late to bring about the changes that you want. Let 2018 be the year that will place you at the forefront of implementing exciting ideas and concepts. Not only for your businesses and yourselves but also to create a world that is a better and safer place.
